Introduction

About MIB Smithy

MIB Smithy is Windows and Unix software product for SNMP developers, MIB designers and internet-draft authors. The tool accelerates the development process by providing an easy to use GUI-based environment for designing and describing an SNMP MIB specification without worrying about particular SMI syntax and formatting concerns in the process. It includes various document conversion capabilities for compiling MIBs according to a preferred specification, with native support for some of the more popular file formats, as well as for converting between SMI versions.

License Agreement

The latest license agreement for this version of MIB Smithy can be found in the file "LICENSE.TXT" or "LICENSE.RTF" of your installation. By installing and using this software you agree to the terms of this license agreement, so please read the license agreement carefully.

What's New

MIB Smithy 4.0 is a major release with significant improvements in GUI look and feel, new features in the SNMP Tools, and usability improvements. The new feature we're most excited about is the new compiler log. In this release, MIB Smithy breaks away from the traditional text-only log with a more task-oriented tabular design that's more concise, has better visual cues to distinguish errors from warnings and between record types, and can be sorted to help you fix problems in the order that's right for you. We look forward to even more workflow improvements under development for a future release.

As always, your feedback is important in determining changes and fixes that will be made in coming releases. If you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact us. See the Technical Support section for contact information.
